| March 18, 2013

Early Childhood Music Teacher (part-time paid position)
The Washington Heights & Inwood (WHIN) Music Project is an El Sistema-inspired
music program for the Washington Heights and Inwood communities of Manhattan in
New York City. In less than a year since its inception, WHIN Music Project serves over
150 children weekly in its different programs which include the Early Childhood
Program, WHIN Children╩╝s Choir, String Program, STAR (School-Time Annual
Residency) Program and the WHIN Youth Orchestra at the United Palace.
Following the principles and best practices of El Sistema, WHIN Music Project uses
orchestral and choral instruction as a vehicle for personal development, social inclusion,
community building and artistic growth for the children and youth in these communities.
We are seeking a warm, caring and energetic teacher to join our enthusiastic and
committed team. Successful candidate should have experience in early childhood
education with a Bachelor degree or Associate degree in music. Current graduate
students are welcome.
The ideal candidate would be a passionate advocate who believes that music can be a
vehicle for personal and social development for children and youth. This position will
provide the right candidate with a hands-on teaching experience in a small yet rapidly
growing non-profit organization in a very exciting time of our short history.
This is a part-time temporary position (from April to June) with the potential for growth
for the right candidate. We are looking for someone that could help design/implement a
music curriculum that explores sound through singing, moving, listening, and playing
instruments by using a varied music literature. Commitment to grow with the program
and to be a tool of positive change in these communities through music education.

Please send cover letter, resume (1-2 page) and a clip/sample of your teachings to
