NYSSMA Winter Conference

| November 10, 2010

The New York State School Music Association will be holding its 75 Annual Winter Conference in Rochester, NY December 2-5, 2010.

NYSSMA is one of the biggest events in New York State where music educators come together to hear lectures, listen to featured ensembles, listen and support the high school all-state ensembles, and visit exhibitions showcasing music schools, companies, technologies, and resources for music educators and students.

You must be a member of MENC (The National Association for Music Education) to attend, but do not fear.  MENC has a great membership deal for students.  The cost is about $30 to join MENC which includes membership to MENC and a subscription to the Music Educators Journal.  You can register online for MENC at http://www.menc.org/about/view/menc-membership-applications

Once you’ve become a member of MENC, you can register for the NYSSMA Winter Conference 2010-2011.  Go to: http://www.nyssma.org/conferences.cfm and click on “Online Winter Conference Registration.”  Put in all your info, make the payment, and you’ll receive an email receipt.  For students, the entry fee is $30.  They DO have an option for you to register if you’re not a member of MENC-just follow the directions.  If you need a hotel reservation for the conference, you can sign up for that, too.  This will get you into all of the exhibits, lectures, and concerts at the conference.  That’s a pretty good deal!

If you want to know more about the NYSSMA Winter Conference, look through the online brochure by going to http://www.nyssma.org/files/4/WC%202010%20Conference%20Brochure%2Epdf.

Hope to see you there.  It’ll be a great time!
