Viola Recital

| January 4, 2011

Di Meglio and Tobey after a well performed recital.

On December 17, 2010 the sounds of the viola sang through Milbank Chapel, Teachers College, Columbia University.  Concluding the last full week of classes, the sounds of violist James Di Meglio and pianist Cynthia Elise Tobey were a delight and allowed a sigh of relaxation to the end of the semester.

Di Meglio, a Masters student in the Music Education department compiled the recital.  Movements from Bach’s cello suite No. 5 opened the recital intimately as the viola was heard solo.  Later, works by Louis Vierne, Ernest Bloch, Mikhail Glinka, and Ralph Vaughan Williams showed the musicianship and sensitivity possessed by both Di Meglio and Tobey.

In celebration of Di Meglio and Tobey’s accomplishment, refreshments were offered at the conclusion of the recital, where Di Meglio was embraced by his family and friends to whom he dedicated the recital.

Congratulations James and Cynthia for a job well done!
