CloudCourse versus Blackboard and Moodle

| May 26, 2010

Just a heads up to pre- and in-service teachers: Google has released CloudCourse, an opensource platform that seems to be something that can compete with BlackBoard and Moodle hopefully in the near future. I’m curious about how this will work out in the field but I suppose we won’t really be able to know until the next upcoming school year. Perhaps student teachers can even make use of this while working in the field. I can see its dependence on Google Calendar/Mail/etc. and/or Google Apps as being a hurdle depending on the educational context, though, especially for educational institutions that don’t rely on Google Apps. Having used both BlackBoard and Moodle as a student and Moodle as a teaching assistant, though, viable alternatives are definitely needed because I personally didn’t like either solution.

Have you tried out CloudCourse? Are you interested in trying it out? Let us know!
