The Columbia Wind Ensemble – Teachers College Conducting Partnership, Spring 2011

| October 17, 2010

ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP
Each semester, the Columbia University Wind Ensemble will select one qualified Teachers College student to participate in the Conducting Partnership. Each participant serves as a guest conductor of the Columbia Wind Ensemble over a 6-week (1/2 semester) period. The guest conductor will rehearse one piece with the ensemble at regular rehearsals, culminating in a live concert performance of that piece at the 2011 Columbia Festival of Winds on Sunday, March 6.

The music that participants will conduct is chosen by the music director in consultation with the participants. Past repertoire has included works by Holst, Grainger, Ticheli, Shostakovich, Vaughan Williams, Nelson, Copland, Sousa, Persichetti, Bernstein, and many more.

Each participant will also play their major instrument in the ensemble for the full semester.
