GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS AND DEADLINES

REGISTRAR DEADLINES
* 4th of October: Last day to change points

Jamaica Field Service Project
**During our 2012 trips, we will again be volunteering in the local schools, offering musical instruments and instruction, tutoring, and music therapy services under the supervision of our certified instructors and professors.
Students in the course prepare for their work with a combination of web-based materials (via SUNY Potsdam’s Blackboard learning system) as well as supervised on-site instruction in Jamaica. During these service learning trips university students learn about Afro-Caribbean music and culture while offering much needed volunteer services and donations to the schools. There is a strong emphasis on the traditional drumming, dancing, and singing that is such a large part of Afro-Caribbean culture.
Students may arrange for three academic credits or observation or practicum hours for this supervised field experience course in Jamaica. You can find additional program info, including
photos, video, andtestimonials from past participants at the program website – www.jafieldservice.com.
*Any student who is interested in attending or would like further information may email the Jamaica Field Service Project atwillse@potsdam.edu.
